Austin Rowing Club - Replace Boats
Who We Are:
Austin Rowing Club is the only nonprofit rowing club in central Texas, located on Lady Bird Lake in the heart of Austin, Texas. Our mission is to advance the sport of rowing throughout our community. We provide rowing programs to anyone who wants to learn to row regardless of age, gender, ability or race. Each year we host outreach programs throughout Austin and central Texas to deliver rowing to anyone interested in the sport.
What's the Situation?
On June 22nd, the Austin Rowing Club Competitive Men's Team was in transit to the Oklahoma City Stars and Stripes Regatta when we had an unfortunate accident. The trailer transporting our boats (five in total) caught on fire and destroyed every single boat on board. We lost our top five racing boats in the process.
The impact is serious for Austin Rowing Club. As a nonprofit, we rely on donations and volunteerism to keep our Club's fleet at the ready. Losing our best boats will likely impact our ability to provide programming to the community serve. We're grateful no one was hurt but we're heart broken that our fleet is now short five boats -- especially when those boats provide joy and sportsmanship to so many rowers.
What Can You Do?
Please consider donating to Austin Rowing Club. We are a 501-c3 nonprofit whose sole mission is delivering rowing to our community. Every dollar you donate will go right back into building our fleet. The rowing community in the US is wonderful and we could definitely use your support.
Thanks,
