Want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money to benefit Autism Society of America Nassau Suffolk Chapter, and any donation will help make an impact.
April is...... Autism Awareness Month, Autism Action Month, and Autism Acceptance Month. While each of us may choose to word it differently, our motivation is the same. We all want to support individuals with autism. Helping someone with autism means being actively involved in improving their quality of life, helping provide equal access to community outings, and providing the support they need to live a full and happy life. We are asking for your help this year as we strive to create safe, supported social and recreational outings for local individuals with autism. Please help us share our collective mission with our local community. There are so many ways to help bring awareness, action, and acceptance to our community in support of our loved ones with autism.
As some of you are aware, I have been personally touched by Autism and have used some of the NSASA resources in the past. My son, who is currently 21 years old, was diagnosed with autism before he was 2 years old. Also, I am on the board of a not-for-profit preschool that serves both the developmentally delayed and typically developing students.
A little bit about NSASA- This past year we have continued to provide support to our families and local group homes in a variety of ways. We have hosted weekly virtual yoga, virtual sibling support groups, and in person private events at places like Adventureland, Splish Splash, the movies, roller skating, Dave & Busters, swimming and more. We have helped support our families in need with gift cards during the holidays and continued our college scholarship program. Thanks to the support of our community, we have been able to bring individuals with autism out of isolation and give them opportunities to experience special events that they would not otherwise have access to. But we cannot do these things without your support.
Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
