Kersting Half Marathon Run: BAWAR
Dear Friends,
I plan on running the Oakland ½ Marathon on April 2, challenging myself and raising money for a local organization that provides counseling to victims of sexual assault and does community advocacy regarding sexual assault issues and prevention. The organization is called BAWAR (Bay Area Women Against Rape) located in Oakland (http://www.bawar.org/ ).
As a result of the Women’s March on Jan 20th, and subsequent discussions on how I could take actions to stand up and RESIST what is happening in our country, I have decided to do this while helping my community.
I was disgusted during the campaign that a man, now our President, could boast about sexually assaulting women because he could get away with it.
This is my small, targeted, part to help women and men know that sexual assault is against the law and we need to fight to give voice to that message, as well as give support to those in our communities who have suffered such violence.
I’ve set this up so that money you donate goes directly to BAWAR.
