Bella’s Promise is fundraising

Bella's Promise Pet Rescue Legal Fund
Dear Bella’s Promise Pet Rescue fosters and supporters. We would like to express our sincere gratitude for helping Bella’s Promise grow and thrive over the past 18 months. During this time we have saved over 3,000 cats & kittens from the streets and local shelters that we vetted, adopted locally and/or transported to our rescue partners up north. Bella’s Promise is a small, all volunteer based 501c3 non-profit animal rescue in south Florida, and we could not have accomplished this without your help and support.
In October 2019, the Bella’s Promise Board members made the decision to part ways with its primary benefactor. This decision did not come lightly, and we remain grateful for the financial support we received in our early days. We did everything in our power to amicably part ways, but unfortunately, in November 2019, the former benefactor filed a lawsuit for defamation against Bella’s Promise and seven of its current and former Board members. We have complete faith in Bella's Promise and our Board and are confident of a positive outcome, however, defending a lawsuit, no matter how trivial, is expensive. Due to mounting legal bills, and upon the advice of our attorney, with the support of our rescue partners, the time has come for us to “let the cat out of the bag” so to speak.
The personal, financial and emotional toll the lawsuit has taken on all involved, the stress of keeping it under wraps so as to not alarm our fosters and supporters, caring for our own foster cats & kittens, while continuing to save as many as we can has been tremendous. The most heartbreaking thing for all of us is knowing that there are cats & kittens we are not able to save because our time, attention and financial resources have been diverted.
Board members have used their savings or taken money out of their 401K’s to pay for our legal bills, and while we have been fortunate to have some financial support, we cannot continue to save as many cats & kittens and defend ourselves against this lawsuit without additional support. We have now (reluctantly) started this campaign to help with our legal costs and allow us to continue saving lives during this most difficult time.
Bella’s Promise is still rescuing, fostering and transporting as many cats & kittens as possible. In January we had our first of several ground transports and this has allowed us to send even more cats & kittens to loving homes in the northeast. We are committed to our mission and are grateful for each one of our amazing fosters, volunteers, rescue partners and supporters, because at Bella’s, a promise is a promise!
PLEASE HELP US CONTINUE!! PLEASE CONSIDER DONATING, SHARING AND EVEN JUST SENDING US A POSITIVE THOUGHT. THANK YOU!!
