My daughter, Ripley is doing a community service project as part of her upcoming Bnai Mitzvah in May. She is looking to support Best Friends Animal Shelter. Best Friends is a no kill shelter that was started in Kanab, Utah. They also have a location in Salt Lake City at which Ripley will be doing in person volunteer work. They also have several other locations throughout the country.

Right now, Best Friends’ emergency response team is on the ground in Los Angeles, supporting local animal welfare organizations while ensuring the safety of the pets and staff at the West L.A. Pet Adoption Center.

Best Friends Animal Society is working around-the-clock to respond to pleas for help from shelters in the affected areas, even as they work to ensure the safety of their staff and the pets in their care at the Best Friends Pet Adoption Center in West L.A. They’re a “whatever it takes” organization and they will do whatever it takes to help those in the city.

• Evacuating with pets support

• Fostering community for owned pets

Whether it’s saving lives, supporting one another, or making the impossible possible, they’re here for the long run to support the victims of the fires.

They are a leading animal welfare organization working to end the killing of dogs and cats in America’s shelters. Hello, my name is Arthur Pinkos and I am doing my mitzvah project by raising money for Best Friends Animal Society, which is a charity that gives a second chance to dogs and cats around America. Their goal for 2025 is to have 100% of shelters be No-kill.

I chose this charity because I love dogs. I have two at home, and I love when they sleep on my lap and ask for belly rubs. I came across Best Friends when my family watched the movie "Arthur The King." The movie is based on a true story about a stray dog, who is named Arthur, that follows a guy, Mikael, on a race through the jungle of Ecuador, following Mikael's team over cliffs, rivers, and mountains. At the end of the movie, Mikael wants to bring Arthur home, but before he can, they face a lot of issues getting Arthur from one country to another. Mikael started The Arthur Foundation in 2015 in support of rehabilitating wild animals and supporting animal welfare rights around the world. So help me raise money to support these animals, by donating money to my swim! I will be swimming laps in February (date TBD) for 45 minutes where you can donate money per minute (suggested donation of $1 per minute) or any flat dollar amount.

Help Us Support Animal Shelters Affected by Hurricanes Helene and Milton!

Hello family, friends and colleagues:

We are a passionate group of students led by our teacher Ms. Carlson and we’re working on a special mission to make a difference for animals in need. After witnessing the devastation caused by Hurricanes Helene and Milton, we were heartbroken to see how many animal shelters have been affected. These shelters are struggling to provide food, toys, and basic care to the animals they rescue, and we want to help them recover.

What We’ve Accomplished So Far

We started by collecting donations of animal food, toys, and supplies for a local animal shelter. The students loved seeing how many of their teachers stepped up during this time to donate to their cause and their community service project with food, toys, and other necessities for animals at the Animal Care Center in Queens.

The experience inspired us to go further. We want to expand our efforts and raise money to support Best Friends Animal Society, a national organization that provides critical aid to animal shelters and rescues during times of crisis.

Our Goal

We aim to raise funds to help shelters replenish supplies, repair facilities, and provide medical care for animals in affected areas. Every dollar raised will go directly to Best Friends Animal Society, ensuring these animals receive the care they need to find safe and loving homes.

Why This Matters

Many shelters are overwhelmed due to the increased number of displaced pets needing care after the hurricanes. Without sufficient resources, these animals may face uncertain futures. By contributing to this fundraiser, you are directly supporting the recovery and safety of countless animals.

Sina was taken away from us far too soon but his life brought so much love and joy into the world of each one of us.
