UPDATE 08/02/2019: How marvelous that hundreds of people have come together to make the Dharma accessible to so many. In only one month people have donated $160,731 for the benefit of others, both online and offline. What an incredible display of generosity! Now we only have $39,269 left to fundraise to turn this dream into a reality and we are updating the GoFundMe and Facebook fundraisers goal settings. May everyone be happy and peaceful!

UPDATE 07/25/2019: Wonderful news! We've received many off-line donations that combined to GoFundMe and Facebook fundraiser amounts to $133,942 (in addition to the $100k that we had already raised). The goal amount of this fundraiser is lowered to reflect this wonderful result. Donate so that all beings may practice Dharma freely.

We have raised $100k and we only need $200k more to secure this beautiful monastery as the new home for Buddhist Insights.
For the past three years,
Buddhist Insights has offered over 100 free meditation retreats and countless talks and classes led by Buddhist monastics, at its donation-based retreat center in New York City.
As the lease of the current retreat center is coming to an end, we now have the opportunity to acquire this magnificent stone monastery and turn it into a new monastery and retreat center for Buddhist Insights! Located just outside of Newark, it is accessible by public transit from NYC in less than an hour. Immersed in several acres of lightly forested parkland, it offers a peaceful refuge which will house several residents and host sleepover retreats of up to 50 people.
To make this possible, we will need to reach our target amount by August 15th, 2019. This gives us the opportunity to cover the downpayment for the mortgage, which will be less than our current monthly rent. Please consider supporting as best you can, both through your own direct contributions and by sharing the word as widely as possible.
If we all come together to support this goal, we can make this place a refuge for generations to come - a place where the teachings of the Buddha are readily accessible to all who seek awakening.
