Support wolf recovery!
It's an incredible privilege to have interned at the California Wolf Center (CWC) in Julian, CA. Over several months, I saw firsthand the dedication it takes to physically care for these incredible animals and the tireless work the center puts into educating the public and dispelling harmful misconceptions.
CWC is home to both Northwestern Gray Wolves and critically endangered Mexican Gray Wolves. The center joined the Mexican Gray Wolf Species Survival Plan (SSP) in 1997 which changed in 2023 to become part of AZA Safe Mexican Gray Wolf (SAFE). CWC is now one of the largest breeding facilities contributing to the reintroduction of this remarkable species back into the wild. With their help, SAFE has increased the number of Mexican Gray wolves from just 13 in the world to a total of nearly 700 today (at least 241 of which were in the wild by the end of 2022)!
I've set up this GoFundMe to help the California Wolf Center continue its mission dedicated to returning wolves to the wild and working with the people who share their landscapes. Amidst a global biodiversity crisis, the work CWC is doing is more important than ever. I've set a big goal of $5k because if we reach it we can name one of the endangered Mexican Gray Wolves housed at CWC! Whether we reach that goal or not, all money raised goes directly to CWC to support the daily care, enrichment, and habitat of their wolves.
Thank you for considering donating! If you're able to contribute please include any name suggestions you may have if we reach our ultimate goal!
