We lost someone very important to us at CAMME this week. Amos Bagambe was more than a driver and coordinator to us. He was a friend and family to the Lunangas. I met Amos after the 2002 volcano eruption in Goma, DRC. Amos was a motorbike driver. He took me to work that day and ensured I was okay, which is all I wanted to hear at the time. I quickly realized that he was a pastor and a responsible person who I could trust to navigate the rocky streets of Goma by motorbike. Amos became my every day driver to and from work. After we bought a car at CAMME, Amos began working for the organization as a driver and logistician. Everyone who knew me knew Amos. He was a colleague, an advisor, a friend, a driver, and so much more to CAMME. Working and living in an insecure place like Goma, Amos always called to make sure I made it home safely. Amos lost his life due to pulmonary infection and shortness of breath. Most importantly, Amos was a father who leaves behind his beautiful family, including his wife Miryam, three children, as well as a younger brother who was under his care. His family was left with nothing, as he was the sole provider. We are raising $2,000 to take care of the funeral costs as well as to support the family through this difficult time. I know how helpful these funds will be for the family and we will continue to provide support beyond material needs. Thanks in advance for your contributions and support to the Bagambe family.

HI Friends! I have my first alpine marathon of the year in 3 weeks and I need your help! Please read on:

Here's the deal: I am raising money for an orphanage and education center in Goma, eastern DR Congo. I have visited this orphanage many times. I know they are an honest, and warm sanctuary for small, otherwise helpless children who almost certainly would be either dead, recruited into a gang/militia, and/or exploited in horrid ways. CAMME provides education, a tangible skill, a bed, food, clothes, love, and support. 

In return for your donation, I will run my hardest at one of the toughest alpine marathons in Washington State of which I am not at all prepared for, but I will finish with the kiddos in my mind and heart. (here is the race! http://www.guerillarunning.com/Mountain_Marathon.html) 

I LOATHE to sound like a begger, but any amount of money from you will go so far for these children and I will be so very thankful for your support. Life is very hard in DRC and these little ones could use all the help they can.
