Luggage of Love 2019
Luggage of Love donations go toward buying items to fill suitcases with personal belongings for children, teens and young adults in the foster care system. These efforts will assist CASA Kane County, a nonprofit organization based in Geneva that advocates for the best interests of abused and neglected children in the juvenile court system.
Gloria Kelley, Executive Director if CASA, was very grateful for the generous donations that came through this campaign in the past years. The nonprofit, she explained, is able to store the suitcases and then give them to children from ages birth to 21 who have been removed from their homes. Often, they are only handed a black garbage bag with their belongings.
This will be the fifth year Apex CPAs & Consultants, Inc. , an accounting, advisory and tax service firm, has been doing its fundraising initiative to support CASA Kane County.
Last year, Tim Barry, a CASA board member, finds the nonprofit’s mission to be a noble one:
“You’re helping kids who don’t have a shot without a CASA,” he said. “Yes, there’s a court system and they’re doing the best that they can but with limited resources, so CASA is able to ensure their best interests are in the forefront. The CASA/guardian al litem volunteers are the real heroes. They’re volunteering time, energy and resources to helping kids. As a board member, it’s super easy for me to get behind that mission.”
Monetary donation can be made here, physical donations can be made anytime thru Dec. 13, 2019 at the APEX office.
