As local residents, we work with land and business owners, city planners and officials to transform vacant lots into usable community destinations.

By revitalizing neglected urban areas we create unique spaces for all local residents to interact through competition, entertainment, and leisure.

Trenholm Proposal - 2016

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Our project aims to transform a vacant lot at 310 Trenholm St. in downtown Atlanta’s Castleberry Hill neighborhood into a multi-use athletic field.

The HJ Russell company generously gave Castleberry Hill Athletic Club usage rights for six years to build a public space designed to build positive relationships through athletics. Our goal is to raise funds, enabling us to complete objectives such as establishing an artificial turf field, installing lights, and fencing to ensure safety and security.

Working in tandem with the Castleberry Hill Neighborhood Association, we strive to continue to drive community engagement. Downtown neighborhoods have a tremendous need for usable community space with few appropriate sites.

For several years the Castleberry Hill Athletic Club has been supporting the John Hope Community Center's STEAMSports program which teaches kids Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math skills. Last year CHAC pa partnered with The Castleberry Hill Urban Regatta Cycling and Arts Festival and raised $5000 between the two and we’re hoping to do the same the same this year!

So what exactly are these funds used for?

“Your donation will go toward providing FREE STEM focused afterschool programs, summer camps, and tutoring programs focused on underserved students in the Castleberry Hill and surrounding communities. Help us break generational cycles of poverty by providing an educational foundation that will catapult our students into college and onto STEM related careers.”

The Urban Regatta has grown steadily in the past few years and we expect great things to come from it in the future. The event has some FANTASTIC business sponsors both small and large who are helping us grow the festival into something really special where we can raise even MORE money to help these kids out! But for now it takes a lot of money to execute the festival while we're still growing. So….

WE WANT IT TO MAKE IT SUPER CLEAR…These funds go directly from the Castleberry Hill Athletic Club to the STEAMSports kids!! They are for charity purposes only! 10% of festival sales will always go to the charity. But we can't guarantee turnout, sales, or whether we're gonna have clear sailing for the day!

Simply put, we can lead people to the #bikeboats and beer...but we can't make them drink.

This fundraiser is being set up for two reasons: First, we want to make sure that no matter what the festival turnout is, no matter rain or shine, that we hit our goal of $5000.

Secondly, we want to make sure that all of you "Aw, yeah, we can't make it this year, but really, REALLY, wish we could!" people have a way to give a little bit to help out this wonderful program because we know you want to!

We'd love to see this amount quadrupled every year while throwing a great party for a great cause in a great neighborhood. With your help we can!
