4-Month Old Gypsy Broke Her Back & Needs MRI ASAP

The Pretty Pink Dress I am Wearing Says Flawless

By the way, my name is Gypsy, and my brother is Jasper. I was just 1 lb 7 oz and my brother was 2lb 2 oz when mommy brought us home. Now, I’ve grown to exactly 4 lbs today (11/8) and my brother is already 6lb 2 oz. Mommy feeds us really healthy food to make sure we grow up big and strong. I love my brother, but he is very rough on me. He never stops chasing me, he bites me all the time, pounces on me and even sits on my head. Mommy does her best to protect me.

A few days ago, Jasper was especially playful and was biting my neck. It was 2:30am and I cried out. The cat tree is at the foot of Mommy’s bed and she woke up to save me and before she could get to me, Jasper knocked us both off the cat tree. Jasper fell on his feet as cats do but I plopped. Mommy cried out and scooped me up to love and kiss me. She thought I was ok and she put us both in her bed next to her where we always sleep. She keeps my special blankie there because she knows I suckle it all the time.

In the morning Mommy was worried because I was not in bed as I always am. It took her a while to find me. I was hiding because I was in pain. When she found me and picked me up, I cried a terrible cry, and it was my first time. You see, I don’t really talk. Mommy rarely hears anything come out of me. We are both very quiet cats. So, the long breathy cry scared Mommy and she made an emergency appointment for me that morning and we could never have imagined the result.

I have a broken back. My T4-T9 all have fractures. That is a lot!! I’m not walking well. My gait is off. Sometimes I drag my left hind leg and sometimes it is better. But I definitely do not walk straight anymore. The vet said it could be congenital and the fall exacerbated it or it could be the fall itself that caused it. Mommy is so upset and sad. She already loves Jasper and I so much. Mommy Elisa wants to do everything she can for me, and she really needs your help… Please!! I need your help!!

I need to live in a cage for the next 4 months, I need pain medication and most important, I need an MRI which is going to cost up to $5,000. It sounds crazy, right? That is what the hospital said. Then, I may even need surgery that could be over $10,000. The important thing for Mommy to know is what exactly are we dealing with so we can take the right course of action. I need this MRI as soon as possible. The doctor said one wrong step or pounce could cause me to become paralyzed. She tries to be brave but I can tell Mommy is terrified.

Sharon from Cat Posse is AMAZING (www.catposse.org) and has been helping out Mommy from day one and is going to pay for the MRI for us. Sharon even ordered a cage and lent it to us to limit my movement and keep Jasper from pouncing on me. Cat Posse first rescued us from poor living conditions and then adopted us out to Mommy Elisa. We love our new Mommy, and we know how much she loves us because she kisses us all the time and always says I’m such a good girl and Jasper is such a good little boy. She is so proud of how big we are getting.

I wanted you to know my story because I want to be with my brother and Mommy for a long time and Mommy is willing to keep loving us no matter what. I know this is a rough time for everyone. The pandemic is terrible. Mommy lost her job back in March and believe it or not, mom just had spinal surgery herself on Oct. 1st. She had two discs replaced in her neck and still needs a rhizotomy and an epidural on other parts of her spine. Isn’t that ironic?! We even take the same medications for pain. Mommy says God brought us together.

Please donate what you can. If everyone Mommy is connected to on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn donated just $1, we would have enough for my MRI and my surgery could cost up to $10,000 or even more. Cat Posse saves so many cats so with your generosity if we raise more than enough for my cage, medications, MRI and surgery, your money will go towards saving other kittens and cats.

As you can see, I’m super cute and adorable, and I have really pretty patterns on my silk like fur. I miss running around and playing with my brother. I know I will be ok with the proper treatment from my wonderful doctors.

Please consider donating any amount you can to help heal me, so I don’t have to live in a cage anymore. I really need the MRI which will tell my doctors what I need next. I hope I won’t need surgery. I really want to play again soon. I’ll be forever grateful for your generosity.
