2025 Golden Lake Elementary Mentor Scholarship Fund
In 2001, a group of stakeholders created the MWorks Mentoring Program at Golden Lake Elementary. The program trained high school students to be mentors for "at-risk" students at our elementary school. Over the past 22 years, we have seen over 2000 high school mentors positively impact the life of a child as a mentor. Every week our mentors volunteer their time and dedicate their energy to being a role-model for their mentees. Since 2010, through the benevolence of community members and former mentors, we have sponsored one or two college scholarships to graduating mentors each year. With over 50 scholarship applicants each year we saw a need to do more. Our goal is to be able to give 5-10 college scholarships each year. in 2024 we were able to grant seven $1000 scholarships. Terri Klebe was the original mentor coordinator and has put blood, sweat, and tears into the program and we honor her lifetime dedication to making our mentor program the best school-based mentor program in the state. The mentor scholarship is named in honor of her work and dedication to our program.
