Help Us Build an Airplane - Empowering Students
Our plane needs wings! We’re 35 students who love aviation so much we’re building a plane. The two-seater Van's RV-12iS plane comes in kits. We put the pieces together. We're building the tail and now we need $8,500 for the wings kit.
Our mission is to make aviation exciting and accessible to all students. We are Young Aviators , the youth group of EAA Chapter 20 , based in San Carlos, CA. EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) is a national aviation organization. Chapter 20 is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 94-6186117). By working with us to build a plane, EAA mentors teach us STEM, engineering, leadership, project management, and teamwork skills.
Building a plane empowers students to learn and grow as a team. Your donation is vital to continue this life-changing experience!
Equity and diversity are core values. Two-thirds of the students identify as students of color, and nine as female. We host twice-monthly talks open to all, provide career mentors, and volunteer to support the greater aviation community.
The finished plane will provide flight training to teenagers at reduced costs and fund the build of the next plane for a new team. This self-sustaining cycle allows us to build multiple planes in the future and change the lives of numerous students.
This program will not be possible without help from you, our incredible donors. Your donation impacts the future. Please help us as we strive to make aviation open to everyone!
Thank you so much for supporting us on this amazing endeavor!
