CNM Charlotte New Music is fundraising
Help us start a chorus for local youth!
We have an auction and this online GoFundMe fundraiser (see below). All contributions are tax-deductible as Charlotte New Music is a 501(c)3 nonprofit arts organization.
Youth Chorus Charity Auction - Contribute a skill, service, item, event tix & let us be creative with how we add it to auction packages! You don't have to be at the event & contributed services could be remote! (Due Mon Dec 4). Entertainment/Party, Travel, Business (consults, website, marketing, etc), Music (performance, coaching, lessons, Artist Development), Wellness, Date Nights, Family Entertainment, Fine Art, Golf Club, & more! We put together packages that people can buy at a deal and the $ goes to start the Youth Chorus! We could also cover any of your hard costs in the starting bid amounts. Every child should have the opportunity to experience making music with their own being.
Goal: $15,000 Allows it to run for a whole year and continues to establish itself into the future as a mainstay for young people in our community. Become a founding member with a donation of any size to our fundraiser or silent auction.
WHY it needs to exist:
- Kids & teens should have the chance to learn and make art with their very own being.
- No instrument rentals. They learn to use their own voice for anywhere they go, throughout their lives.
- Community youth have reported that schools are closing choruses for “lack of interest,” but we know that when funding gets cut, things can’t run.
- Music is one of the rare avenues to learning connection, how to feel and express, and to create art that moves. We need people growing up in spaces that promote these things. There are not enough.
- Music education is a source of inspiration, hope, creativity, and life-long impacts for generations to come – an investment in the future and the cultural enrichment of our community.

Vision:
- Ages 9-17 from all walks of life. 2+ locations: Concord Mills area & West Charlotte. Possible 3rd location.
- 1 location will focus on inviting refugee youth that are here from around the world. With utmost care and respect, we learn music from their home countries, and share music from ours – learning about each other in the process – traditions, languages, and more.
- 2X a year, choruses perform all together.
- Collaborate with local music artists, bands, producers, & composers to perform exciting music with local creatives who are innovative and passionate about what they do. They will make hyper-relevant connections, and can go see their collaborators again at local shows & events.
- Music created at the highest quality level, reflecting themes appropriate for the ages of the singers.
Where funds go:
- A Music Director
- Rehearsal space, materials, administrative costs
- Artistic collaborators, performance costs
- A space for young voices to find safety & growth,
- Materials & marketing to get the word out,
- Elimination of the cost-barrier for participation.
