Children of Uganda Ride the Rockies
I am participating in the 7-day, 500 mile Ride the Rockies cycling event this June that raises money for rural Colorado communities. During the ride however my wife Ann and I will also be raising money for Children of Uganda (COU). We were introduced to this wonderful and well-managed charity by our good friends Maria and Celso White. I would love for you to help sponsor my ride by contributing on the "gofundme" platform. Proceeds will go to COU to help support the children in their program and will be used for urgent items such as mosquito nets, school backpacks, mattresses, bed sheets and warm blankets, and new school shoes.
COU was founded in 1995 and provides opportunities to orphaned and vulnerable Ugandan girls and boys through the provision of basic education, social welfare, social protection and life skills development. Most of the children have been orphaned as a result of HIV/AIDS or adversely affected by the illness of infected parents and/or other family members.
Over the past 22 years, COU has supported more than 1,000 vulnerable children in various ways. Program activities transcend primary education to encompass support for post-primary students through secondary school, vocational training, teacher training college, university and other tertiary institutions of learning.
Without charitable intervention, countless orphan and vulnerable children in Uganda may never have the opportunity to explore their talents and reach their potential. And so, COU seeks to open pathways for these deserving young people to access quality education, skills training, and livelihood support. The aim is for each child to grow and mature into socially and economically self-reliant adults who positively impact their communities.
Your support will truly make a significant and lasting impact on a deserving child in the COU program. You can check out their website to learn more at www.childrenofuganda.org .
Thank you for your generous support,
Karr and Ann McCurdy
