Children's Hospital Los Angeles

Hello all,

My name is Daniela Cabral, and I'm the aunt of Rachel Ortiz. 

As some of you may already know, our family is grieving the loss of our sassy little girl Rachel Ortiz.  Her untimely departure has left us heartbroken, speechless, with a mix of a million other emotions.  We are thankful for all the thoughts and prayers from all our friends and family.  This is a wound that will never heal and we will have to learn to live with. 

When Rachel became ill, she was transported to the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles.  There is no doubt, that they did everything they could to save her.  In addition, the nurses and doctors at the hospital were very attentive, patient, and understanding with her parents and the rest of her family.  They provided a trained professional to help break the news to the other children.  The quality of care provided by these medical professionals was no less than superb. Unfortunately,  Rachel lost her battle with diabetes (Diabetic Ketoacidosis) on Sept. 7, 2020.

The family would like to honor Rachel by making a donation to the CHLA. The family would also like to especially thank the CHLA PICU department, and especially her Nurse Laura.  During our four day stay did we realize how we forget that people are faced with unfortunate events and circumstances every day. We weren't the only family in the waiting room fighting tears.  While we are out and about, there are innocent children in the hospital, fighting for their lives.  The staff of medical professionals at CHLA are doing God's work by helping save these babies.   By donating, we can help take care of more children on Rachel's behalf and memory.

The Buckley School's Children's Hospital Club, a student run organization on campus, has been dedicated to raising money and awareness for the hospital for the past few years. With the spread of COVID-19, the already overwhelmed health care system is struggling to provide their brave staff with personal protection equipment and other essential resources in their fight again the global pandemic. Without additional funding, The Children’s hospital Los Angeles may not be able to adequately protect the countless high-risk patients in its facilities. All proceeds, on behalf of the Buckley school community, will be donated to the CHLA COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund. Original post: Over the past decade, the /Filmcast podcast has spent over 30 person-hours watching Michael Bay's TRANSFORMERS films. They are terrible films, they make us feel bad about humanity, and they make us feel bad about cinema.

Despite this, we have received many requests for us to watch TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST KNIGHT. We don't want to see this film. We don't want to review it. But we are willing to do it.
