Annual 5K for Kolajo to Support College Visions

Walk, run, or stroll with us and make a gift to continue Kolajo's powerful legacy and support the Kolajo Paul Afolabi College Success Program! Your gift will provide essential support for first-gen students. And, as we push to reach this big goal, the KSP continues to show outstanding outcomes--92% persisted to their second year of college and our cumulative graduation rate remained steady at 68%! We are so proud that the program named after Kolajo is realizing his vision! Every degree earned by a KSP Scholar is a victory for an individual, a family, and a community.

8th Annual Alumni Giving Campaign
The entire month of April is dedicated to the 8th Annual Alumni Giving Campaign to support first-generation students in overcoming the many obstacles they face to attain their college degree!

Our goal is to raise $3,000 in support of the Emergency Grant Fund! This fund has made a world of difference to many students, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, as many have fallen on more challenging times.

We hope you consider giving back this month in honor of the CV student you once were, a mentor who supported you through college or in support of CV students gearing up to make one of the most significant decisions of their educational journey—choosing a college!

Help first-gen students get to college!
The pandemic has been extremely tough for first-generation, low-income students. In RI and across the country, young people are delaying college or leaving college due to financial distress, family responsibilities, health problems, and overall stress and fear for the future. That's why the work of College Visions is more important than ever! We are here to tell students that a college degree might feel like just a dream but it really is an achievable goal!

In November, we celebrate First-Gen Student Day (Nov 8) and #GivingTuesday. Will you help us raise $9,000 during November? That is $100 per high school student CV will serve this year. These funds ensure college trips, expert advice on applying for financial aid, help with college essays, college affordability counseling for students and their families, and a supportive mentor who is available to meet, talk, or text. With your support, CV students stay on track. They apply to college, enroll, and earn degrees at rates that are sometimes higher than their wealthy peers!
