About Collin County Best (CoCo BEST)
The mission of CoCo BEST (Collin County Boosting Science, Engineering, and Technology) is to promote and perform educational project-based learning activities that inspire students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) through participation in a sports-like science and engineering-based robotics program. We provide an extracurricular academic experience that engages students through teamwork, self-directed learning, apprenticeship, and problem solving. Students do all of the work; mentors only guide the students. Our primary activity revolves around two parallel annual competitions: (1) a robotics game, tied to real-world applications, and (2) the BEST Award, which is presented to the team that demonstrates the best use of the engineering design process.
