David Francis-Maurer is fundraising
Harvard Street Fire Fundraiser for member of CCSC
On May 31st at 2:30AM, a massive fire broke out on Harvard Street in Cambridge. The entire backside of the building was engulfed in flames even before fire engines arrived. Thankfully there were no injuries. However, multiple floors have been destroyed and multiple cars have been turned to rust. Many are homeless in the middle of both a global pandemic as well as national unrest due to our police systems.
Please take a moment to watch our fundraising video which includes footage of the fire and of the smoldering building: https://youtu.be/6g8KACpZ3SI
With the building being so unstable, it is planned to be demolished. This means nobody can go back in to retrieve any belongings that they didn’t grab when they all had to make the split second decision to evacuate to the blaring sound of fire alarms. Firefighters may be able to retrieve a limited amount of personal items written down before they demolish the buildings, but basic things like furniture, clothes, and food are off limits.
At CCSC, we care deeply about each and every member of our community. Respecting the privacy wishes of the family affected, we are asking you to support a member of the CCSC community in order for them to re-build their lives.
Please reach out to High School Principal David Francis-Maurer with any questions or offers of help either. You can do this via school reception, or directly, via 'dfm at ccscambridge dot org'.
We hope you appreciate the gravity of the situation and will, therefore, contribute whatever you can to help them rebuild their lives. We appreciate all of your contributions at this difficult time.
With gratitude and love,
The CCSC Family.
