Save Prairie du Rocher's levee's
Although the levees surrounding our village are currently certified, the guidelines have changed and we must now meet the new rules to maintain our certification. This process is extensive to complete and very expensive to get done. Recently a deadline has been set by the government to complete payment on the cost of Certification work, and after making several payments, a balance of $62,000 remains for this part of the project that must be paid upfront before work can be completed. Because Federal Agency money cannot be used to pay another Federal Agency, grants applied for through the Delta Regional Authority cannot be used towards this bill. They could however be used to help with other parts of the project, but there are no guarantees that any more funds will be received to help with this.
We are very close to celebrating our 300th anniversary as a community, and the loss of this certification would have devastating results on the community. We've come so far and invested so much as a community, we can't let it all be in vain now.
On behalf of the citizens of Prairie du Rocher, we are reaching out to businesses, residents, historians, and friends of Prairie du Rocher all around the country, and sincerely appreciate any help you can offer to help protect our community by helping us save our levees. All funds receive will go directly to the Community Foundation of Randolph County, earmarked for this project, and then dispersed to the levee district to fund the needed programs.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide--
