About Consolata Society for Foreign Missions

The Consolata Missionaries have made their own the words of Jesus of Nazareth: “The Spirit of the Lord has sent me to bring good news to the poor, to proclaim liberty to captives, new sight to the blind, to set the downtrodden free, and to proclaim the Lord’s favor.” Luke 4: 18-19. Very much like Jesus and at his command, the Consolata Missionaries strive to bring about the Kingdom of God throughout the world by means of announcing His Gospel and promoting human life and dignity. The Consolata Missionaries were founded in Turin, Italy, in 1901 by Blessed Joseph Allamano and are called "Consolata" after Our Lady of Consolation, venerated in the famous shrine of the same town. They share in Mary's motherly mission to take to the world the true consolation: Christ the Savior.
