Help Restore the Conway Pool! - We Have 30 Days
The Conway Community Swimming Pool was built in 1950 by a group of amazing volunteers who built an earth dam to create a pond. The Pool is for Conway residents and is under the control of a non-profit 501c3 with a board of trustees. The Pool receives no town or taxpayer funding and is run completely by volunteers (with a very small budget). Annual donations from residents generally cover operating expenses, with very little additional funds.
Conway was hit with the most rain in July of any town in the country. Three storms back to back on July 10th and two on July 21st. This narrow storm dumped unfounded amounts of rain (a 500-year storm they say), with the Conway Pool being downhill from the hardest hit areas, flushing everything uphill into our pond, filling catch basins and culverts, and eroding most of the site. Times are tough, and with all the regulations, we have a 30-day emergency window to complete the repairs before the project costs will likely triple with regulatory permitting and engineering, which is something we simply can't afford. Contractor repair estimates have come in at $124,000 (for emergency work during this period). If we don't accomplish this work now, our 73-year-old Pool will likely cease to exist. This resource is a true gem for the residents of Conway, Massachusetts.
Please consider a donation in any amount. You may also contact us if you have another way to donate such as investments, or if you simply wish to mail us a check (which would also avoid any GoFundMe fees). We will include donations through PayPal and the mail in our totals of this goal (we can add them in).
Thank you for your consideration. The residents of Conway thank you.
