Community Sand Volleyball Courts
The Beach at The Village at Fairview in Fairview, TX decided to repurpose a sand volleyball court park that was on their property. When teenagers found out about this, they decided to organize and began asking for signatures on a petition to try and stop the development. See this link for a television news story about this... http://www.nbcdfw.com/news/local/Popular-Collin-County-Attraction-Closing-372062182.html.
While all of this was happening, the teens didn't know about negotiations between The Village at Fairview and Cottonwood Creek Church regarding relocating the sand volleyball court to the church property. On March 22, 2016, Cottonwood Creek Church issued a press release announcing that The Village at Fairview was donating all the volleyball courts' equipment to Cottonwood Creek Church in order to relocate the park to the church property and make it free and open to the public to use. Cottonwood Creek Church is now going through the process of getting city permits, architectural drawings, drainage requirements, construction costs, and other city of Allen, TX requirements to begin construction of the lighted, sand volleyball courts. The church's budget wasn't prepared to handle all of these expenses. That is why they are asking for donor's help in raising money so that the park can be opened free to the community to use by the end of May 2016.
