Help Rebuild Crossnore, North Carolina
Our names are Melissa and Michele - Many of you know that our father and step-mom bought my grandmother’s childhood home in a small town called Crossnore, N.C.. In their retirement, their new love is to spend time with loved ones, volunteer and make their community a better one. From the animal shelter to serving on the city council, this home/town holds a special meaning to them and my entire family whom grew up visiting several times a year and where we continue to visit regularly. Below is some information on this organization that will help this town get back on their feet.
Help Rebuild Crossnore, NC—A Small Town in Need
We are the Crossnore Enhancement Committee, a non-profit organization founded in 1999 to support the growth and preservation of our historic town. In the wake of Hurricane Helene’s devastating impact, we’ve shifted our efforts to urgent recovery, and we’re asking for your help.
Crossnore, NC, is a close-knit community of 187 people in western North Carolina, rich in history and natural beauty. The Crossnore School, which has provided care to children in need for over a century, is a cornerstone of our town.
But Hurricane Helene has taken a severe toll. Our roads are badly damaged, our water and sewer systems are overwhelmed, and our aging generator—critical for powering these essential systems—can no longer keep up. Without a reliable power source, our water and sewer infrastructure is at risk of failing, putting the health and safety of our community at even greater risk.
We’re turning to you for help. Whether you’ve visited Crossnore or simply wish to support a small community in need, any donation—big or small—will make a meaningful difference.
Your generosity will help us repair our infrastructure, secure a dependable generator, and preserve the peaceful way of life we hold dear for future generations.
Thank you for your kindness and support.
