Davis Island Youth Sailing Foundation

The recent hurricane has left our community devastated, and the Davis Island Youth Sailing Foundation is no exception. DIYSF provides vital sailing education and opportunities for young people in our area, has been severely impacted by the storm.

DIYSF facilities, boats, and equipment have sustained significant damage. Many of the families involved with the foundation have also lost their homes and belongings, facing immense challenges as they rebuild their lives.

We're asking for your help to support the Davis Island Youth Sailing Foundation and their sailing families. Your generous donations will go towards:

* Repairing and replacing damaged facilities and equipment: Restoring the foundation's ability to offer sailing programs to the community.

* Providing assistance to DIYSF families: Helping them cover basic cost to continue to participate in the sport of sailing while they rebuild their homes and lives.

H.B Plant Sailing is a varsity high school club sailing program out of Davis Island Yacht Club in Tampa, Florida. The club is one of very few public school sailing teams in our region.  This year, we are honored to have secured a berth in the National Invitational Tournament-The Founder's Cup Regatta in Rochester, New York, on Memorial Day weekend. The NIT Regatta started in 2009 as a way to promote team racing among school teams. Last year, Plant was the winner of the Founder's Cup and we are thrilled to be defending our title!

Our entire Club Team roster of nearly 20 sailors has pitched in both on the water and off the water to make our team as successful as possible. We practice anywhere from 2-5 days a week, attended school, are active in scouts and music programs, have volunteered in the Tampa Bay community, held fundraisers  and more, but still as a Club Team one of the biggest obstacles we face is funding. The sailing team receives no funding from our high school and our parents cover the costs of coaching and regatta travel. Expenses will run nearly $1,000 a person, and we need to pay for seven sailors and two adults, totaling $9,000. Donations will be used to help offset the costs for our sailors. We need the funds by May 20th in order to book flights and hotels.
