1. TO PROVIDE A MECHANISM OF SCHOLARSHIP FUNDING TO HELP PROMISING JOURNALISTS FULFILL THEIR ACADEMIC GOALS AT ACCREDITED SCHOOLS OF JOURNALISM; 2. TO FURTHER THE ETHICS AND IDEALS OF THE PROFESSION OF JOURNALISM; 3. TO ENCOURAGE AND DEVELOP HIGHER STANDARDS OF JOURNALISM; 4. TO ASSIST IN THE TRAINING OF PROMISING YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN FOR THE NEWS GATHERING & COMMUNICATIONS PROFESSIONS BY COURSES, LECTURES AND OTHERWISE; 5. TO STIMULATE THE INTELLECTUAL LIFE OF THE COMMUNITY BY BRINGING TO DENVER NOTABLE WRITERS AND THINKERS FROM OTHER PARTS OF THE UNITED STATES; AND 6. TO PROMOTE IDEAS, A SPIRIT OF FELLOWSHIP, AND TO ENHANCE THE CIVIC RESPONSIBILITYWHICH MAY BE FOSTERED BY AND DEVELOPED WITHIN THE NEWS GATHERING/COMMUNICATIONS PROFESSION IN DENVER AND THE IMMEDIATE VICINITY.
