Dobby's House Elves

Hi, my name is Alexys! I am raising money to benefit Dobby's House Elves, my non-profit devoted to caring for stray cats, and any donation will help make an impact.

Our mission is to create a safe haven for homeless cats in need. My goal is for all cats in my care to learn what it means to be unconditionally loved. We want to be a pillar in the community providing a home to strays, education to pet owners and cat lovers, veterinary care, and be a resource in spaying/neutering the large and continuing to grow population of cats in Alachua County. My passion and purpose in life is to care and provide for as many cats as I possibly can. I have rescued and homed 100+ cats over the many years I have poured my soul into this work.

I started this organization after being asked to help care for a Cat Colony that stays behind TJ Maxx at the Newberry Crossing plaza. I believe there to be anywhere from 30-40 cats staying in the area that have learned staying there will get them well taken care of. I go out there every day to feed, give water, love on them (those that let me), and as far as I can, make sure they are healthy. I've been taking care of them for 3-4 years now. They have become my family. Dobby's House Elves was founded to give this colony a safe haven and a place that they can call home. They each deserve to know what a bed feels like. We are currently working towards making this dream a reality.

As an organization, we have been blessed with incredible support from volunteers and people who believe in this mission as strongly as I do. We have been able to make significant strides towards our mission in a short span and we are working towards the next steps for this Cat Sanctuary. One major accomplishment has been securing property that will hopefully serve as the home for Dobby's House Elves and all of its residents. We have unfortunately run into some major roadblocks in that process that require major repairs. But we are undeterred and will continue on until these cats have the home they deserve.

This gofundme is to help with one of the next steps in that process, which is securing special permitting on the property. The cost of the application and entire process is about $5,000. The special permit is a necessity in order to build the housing and infrastructure on the property that will serve all the needs of the rescues. Securing this permit will officially make us a Cat Sanctuary! We are striving to raise an additional $5,000 to help with the day to day care for all the cats I currently take care of. These funds will go an incredibly long way to accomplishing our mission.
