Fundraising:
Thanks purely to donations, we've managed to spay and neuter over 3500 dogs and cats on the Oaxaca coast of Mexico since April 2021, and we've been able to rescue, rehabilitate, vaccinate, and home countless street animals in desperate need of help.
I opened this GoFundMe initially to raise funds to offer free and low-cost spay/neuter campaigns in the local communities around Puerto Angel that have limited resources.
I’ve decided to keep this fundraiser ongoing to make it easier for people to donate on this platform either towards our spay/neuter campaigns or to help specific animals in need who I post about on social media.
If you would like your donation to go towards a specific campaign or animal, please send me a note so that I can use your donation accordingly.
I also invite you to add me as a Facebook friend or to follow my Facebook and Instagram accounts called Dogs of Puerto Angel to stay up to date with the volunteer work I’m doing with the dogs and cats in the local community. (

These animals are my life, and I’ll continue the fight to protect them no matter what. And it's through your kind donations, that I'm able to continue this vital volunteer work.
Financials
For a large-scale sterilization campaign in Mexico, the vets charge us 350 pesos / 19 USD to sterilize one animal. 100% of all donations I receive go directly to the vets for their surgical materials and labor.
I dedicate my energy and time to this cause as a volunteer because I truly believe that sterilization is the most humane solution to the overpopulation and suffering of stray animals in Mexico.
But as an English teacher earning a humble Mexican salary, I cannot fund this cause alone. That’s why I’ve opened this GoFundMe campaign. With your help, we can sterilize and help more animals to reduce the suffering on the streets in Mexico.
Thank you to those who have supported my cause so far and continue to do so. I appreciate all the encouragement and love we receive along the way.
Background
In Puerto Angel and the surrounding coastal region of Oaxaca, there are currently no government-run sterilization programs. There are also no animal shelters. There is an extreme overpopulation of stray dogs and cats in the area who suffer terribly from malnutrition, disease, injury, and abuse.
The only method used by local communities to control the overpopulation is through poisoning the strays.
To prevent this immense suffering, I established a small non-profit organization, Dogs of Puerto Angel, which uses 100% of donations raised on GoFundMe to offer large-scale sterilization campaigns in and around Puerto Angel to the local communities that don’t have the resources to sterilize their pets.
About the organizer:
Hi, I’m Claudia Mamet. I’m originally from South Africa, but I've lived in Puerto Angel, Mexico for more than 4 years where I teach English at a local university. Everyone has a calling, and my calling has always been to help dogs and cats in need.
When I moved to Mexico, I realized that there was an uncontrollable overpopulation of stray dogs and cats here who struggle to survive and suffer tremendously. I can’t turn my back on these animals which is why I established Dogs of Puerto Angel.
When I'm not at work, I spend several hours each day feeding the strays in Puerto Angel and having them sterilized, vaccinated, and de-wormed at the local vet. I foster and rehabilitate sick animals in my home and try to find them forever homes.
Please feel free to follow my Facebook or Instagram so that you can keep up to date with our sterilization campaigns and other volunteer work that I do for the dogs and cats in this part of Mexico.
Thank you so much for your love and ongoing support for this beautiful cause.
