Biking for Hope: Supporting Oyate Hope Academy!

Saturday, May 3rd!!

Hello, friends!

We are Jenny and Mike Chang, two board members of Eagles' Wings, along with our incredible team: Ben Kim and Ryan Mulvaney.

And we are biking all the way to Milwaukee for Oyate Hope Academy on May 3rd! (Or die trying… but hopefully not.)

And we want YOU to join us—either by hopping on your bike or by donating to this great cause!

Why Are We Doing This?

Oyate Hope Academy is a beacon of hope for children on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota, founded and led by Wendell, who has poured his heart into this community with his family for over 20 years. The academy provides not only a quality education but also love, mentorship, and faith in Christ to children who face immense challenges.

Many of these students come from broken homes, extreme poverty, and communities struggling with addiction, lack of education, and the absence of positive role models. In this region:

Over 70% of students drop out of high school

Alcoholism affects approximately 80% of families

But here’s the good news: Christ’s love is greater than these challenges. When we come together to invest in these children, we help break cycles of poverty and despair. This ride is about giving them a future filled with hope.

How Can You Help?

We are raising funds to help Oyate Hope Academy expand and renovate its school facilities. Your donation will go directly toward providing these students with a safe, welcoming, and well-equipped learning environment.

1) GUESS THE TIME CHALLENGE ** Every $10 donation lets you guess the finish time of one of our bikers! The closest guess for each of the bikers' times wins a $50 Amazon Gift Card for each biker!

2) Join the Ride – Donate $100 or more, and you can bike with us!

PRIZES ARE CUMULATIVE!!

BIKER PROFILES:

Jenny: Age 45, Exercise routine: less than one time a week, Main physical activity.. walking from kitchen to the car, car to desk, desk, and the occasional game of indoor screen golf. Will be riding a yellow Cannondale that is about 22 years old.

Mike: Age 49, Exercise routine: less than one time a week, Golfs way more than Jenny. But might stay with Jenny to prevent becoming a widow. Mike and Jenny will be taking off 1.5 hours before the young ones to try to not be passed up too quickly. Mike will ride a Fuji Road Bike.

Ben: Age 23, avid rock climber (3 X a week). Stays active with weekly basketball on Tuesdays. Will be riding a Trek 7.3 FX.

Ryan: Age 24, when asked about his exercise routine, says, "none" but really likes biking and plays basketball on Tuesdays. Will be riding a Hybrid Trek Bike.

This will be an organic process, and we welcome anyone to Give! Grab your Bike! And Ride with us to Milwaukee!

We will meet for dinner there and then get picked up by the ambulance,.. I mean support van to head back home that night. (There might be a train option too?).. or you can always bike back home............. if you're crazy. We'll figure it out if you let us know that you're IN.
