Want to join me in making a difference? East Coast Maine Coon Rescue is raising money to open a cat café in Monmouth County, NJ, near our headquarters. Hi, I'm Debbie and I am the founder of East Coast Maine Coon Rescue!

 

ECMCR operates in several states along the East Coast of the United States. Our foster cats and kittens are currently in private homes, currently in NJ, PA, NY, MD, and MA. We would love to eventually add a cat café to each of these states to be closer to our adopters and supporters. It would be a great benefit to the cats to open a facility where potential adopters can come with their friends and family and meet our available felines. Patrons can enjoy coffee, tea, snacks and desserts while spending time with our furry friends. A potential adopter can return as many times as they like to be sure the cat they are interested in would be the perfect match! The cat café would also be a wonderful place for people who love cats but cannot adopt due to various reasons, such as someone in the home with allergies, no pets allowed where they live, or just no more room at home for more cats! Patrons can wait for their reserved time while enjoying drinks and snacks in the café section (we are planning to name it Butler's Kitty Cafe after our founder's Maine Coon cat who passed away recently). The café section will have a webcam showing the cats playing without having to interact with the cats, so even those who are allergic can enjoy their time at the café!

Not only are we here to support the cats, but the cafe (Butler's Kitty Café), partnering with East Coast Maine Coon Rescue, is intended to be a cornerstone for the community that invites patrons to have a cozy place  to frequent for a good beverage or snack.  We plan on having special events like game night, cat yoga, story time for children with the cats, wine and cheese night, painting night, fondue night, comedy night, and other fun activities for families and singles!  The café intends to pair with local businesses to offer quality snacks and welcomes all!

 

East Coast Maine Coon Rescue specializes in Maine Coon and Maine Coon mixed cats. Maine Coons are the largest domestic cat. Purebreds can weigh up to 35 lbs! They have shaggy fur, a long fluffy tail, fluffy paws, ear tufts and ear furnishings, and a lion's mane. Mixes are usually smaller and may be missing some of the usual physical characteristics of a Maine Coon. When we have room, we rescue non-Maine Coon parents and/or siblings of the Maine Coons that we are saving.

 

We are asking for $20,000 which will help pay for:

-Architecture (to fit out the space): $8,000 to $10,000 approximately

-Mechanical (engineering, plumbing): $5,000 approximately

-Permits and other forms (health, state department, etc): $2,000 approximately

 

Any size donation will help meet our goal. Discounts, coupons, and gift cards will be available to all donors. We are also offering the following incentives:

 

Donations of:

-$1,000 or more - a large portrait of the donor's cat will hang in the café or the cat lounge and an area of the café or lounge named after the donor's cat.

-Donations of $500 or more - a smaller picture of the donor's cat will be displayed in the café.

-Donations of $200 or more - a drink or snack item will be named after the donor's cat.

-Donations of $100 or more - the donor will be invited to attend our opening day party.

More information about East Coast Maine Coon Rescue: Our rescue saves Maine Coon and Maine Coon mixed cats and kittens from kill shelters, breeders who have come upon difficult times, and people who can no longer keep their cats.
