Help Us Fly For Abortions & Gender-Affirming Care
Elevated Access, a brand new non-profit, needs your help to ensure access to abortion and gender affirming care in the USA. We launched in April 2022 to meet the escalating demand for out-of-state healthcare.
As more states “ban” abortion, patients who need care often have to travel hundreds and even thousands of miles to get healthcare. The abortion access map is getting bleaker by the day, especially in the South and Midwest. Check out The Guttmacher Institute’s map of care deserts by state:
Elevated Access is a network of volunteer pilots with access to small planes that fly into smaller airports which exist all over the USA, including urban and rural areas. Our volunteer pilots transport passengers for free. Our pilots donate their time, their plane, and pay for everything including aviation fuel which is expensive. Our volunteer pilots rock!
Over 800 pilots have volunteered from every single state since we launched Elevated Access! This is a staggering response and we are thrilled by how the aviation community is rallying to the cause of helping people access abortion and gender affirming care.
We are all volunteers and doing our best while working other jobs. In order to help more people who need care, we now need to fund a small staff to focus full-time on growing Elevated Access.
Our goal is to raise $250,000 in donations. We will use these donations to hire full-time staff, coordinate flights, and work with other care organizations (reproductive care clinics, abortion funds, and practical support organizations) to connect pilots to patients.
We now match pilots and patients by hand in a thorough but time-consuming way. We would invest in technology to automate and scale our operations, drastically improving our ability to find an available pilot for every single patient who needs care.
