The Elgin High School esports team and gamers club are two of the largest and fastest-growing student organizations on campus. The popularity of the esports team and gamers club at Elgin High School correlates to the widespread demand for esports across the country at both the high school and college levels. Approximately 200 colleges and universities in the United States offer over $16 million in esports scholarships each year.
Our organization isn't just about playing games. Being a member of our esports team or gamers club helps foster the development of soft skills crucial to the success of our students, such as:
- Dedication to practice
- Consistent attendance at school and practices
- Communication with teammates
- Strategizing / Brainstorming
- Executing plans
- Creating and tracking goals
Like other IHSA-recognized sports, team membership requires academic eligibility. Our program creates opportunities for all students to participate in an inclusive extra-curricular activity. We empower those involved by using their passion for gaming to explore a variety of post-secondary career pathways, including marketing, management, and media production.
With your support, we will be able to offer a high-quality experience for over 150 students and continue to grow our program!
Just like any other sport or activity, there are a lot of start-up expenses and additional costs that accrue over the course of a season. We hope to raise funds for tournament expenses, team apparel, transportation, lodging costs when traveling for tournaments, gaming monitors, gaming consoles, gaming peripherals, streaming equipment, and video game licenses.
Raising dollars for extracurricular activities is very difficult to do but is vital for our program. Every donation counts, regardless of the dollar amount. If you are not in a position to help our program out financially, please spread the word about our fundraiser by sharing it with the world via Email, Facebook, and Twitter!
