Dr. Emory Documentary
Join the Emory Neurophysiologic Institute in making a difference.
My name is Hamlin Emory, M.D. I am a board-certified psychiatrist who conducts a neurophysiologic medical practice and directs clinical research to improve individual brain and body physiology. Thirty years ago I realized that psychiatric medications didn’t seem to enhance people’s brain function, but only reduce symptoms and alter behavior. I began to sample patients’ brain electrical activity (EEG) and sort their digitized brainwave measures (QEEG). I found that prescribing medication and/or supplements to improve a patient’s particular brain electrical activity markedly improved their cognitive function, mental and/or substance abuse disorder. Over the years I learned to identify, understand and correct diverse neurophysiologic variations correlated with brain activity among various patient populations. This approach has been successful in treating over 15,000 individuals who suffered with a broad array of mental, substance abuse and learning disorders.
In 2010 several medical centers, including Stanford, Harvard and Columbia Universities, validated an early version of this method using a large group of subjects with major depression. In addition, the method has been successfully used at Walter Reed National Medical Center to augment the clinical outcomes of military personnel with post-traumatic stress and depression. Our goal is to make this medical approach available to family physicians and other specialists.
This safe and relatively inexpensive neurophysiologic method has the potential to improve public health; therefore, the importance of this documentary is crucial as we want to see it employed in medical and osteopathic schools, correctional facilities and public school systems as well as available to those that are seeking mental health and well being. To do that we need your financial support to complete our documentary which has been filmed and now is in the editing stage.
