Help Us Build End-of-Life Guesthouse
EVERYONE HAS A STORY
Tell me about the time you lost someone you loved.
What do you remember about the final days and weeks you had with them?
If you could go back in time, what would you do the same? What would you change?
I remember the apprehensive look in my grandmother’s eyes when I tried to assure her that she wouldn’t suffer.
I wish I had better knowledge to comfort her with confidence.
I remember the joy on my friend’s face when our little chihuahua visited her in the hospital.
I wish no dying person would have to miss a cuddle time with their fur babies.
I remember the unpleasant odor hitting my face as I walked into the room.
I wish I could’ve opened the window for my father for fresh air.
And something tells me I’m not alone in these sentiments.
EPILOGUE FOUNDATION
Epilogue Foundation is a nonprofit organization in Portland, Oregon. We’re creating an end-of-life guesthouse, offering an intimate environment for our guests to spend their final days and weeks, alone or with their loved ones.
Imagine a charming bed & breakfast that also provides round-the-clock personal care and care-coordination support. We will take the everyday busyness off your plate, so that you and your loved ones can focus on what really matters.
Our guests will use a Medicare-certified hospice provider of their choice. The hospice team will offer pain management and other medical care as well as spiritual and psychosocial support if you wish.
Epilogue Foundation is also an educational community. We’re creating a program to help members of the Portland community deal with end-of-life care questions like:
- What’s going to happen to me?
- Is my Mom suffering?
- How do I make the best care decisions?
