Hello, my name is Kyle Kreutzer. In March of this year, my dad was diagnosed with stage 3 Esophageal Cancer. This has been tough on our family but has brought us closer together. My dad has been incredibly strong, battling through chemo and radiation for the last five months. Since I was a little kid, he has been my best friend. From working on the ranch with him and my grandpa, fixing fences, feeding cows, checking water, or anything I could do just to hang out with them. He was one of my coaches throughout my life in sports, rebounding basketballs, being my weightlifting spotter, and countless other things. He’s been there for me through it all.
In April of this year, I decided to turn this negative into a positive. I decided to train for an Ironman and raise money for a nonprofit esophageal cancer foundation in honor of my dad. I started my program for the Ironman prep last week after completing some ramp training the months prior. I wanted to share this process on social media to help promote the fundraiser and foundation. Even though it is nothing close to as tough as what he is going through right now, I hope to help raise money to progress research, advocacy, and awareness of this terrible disease. The organization I am raising money for is the Esophageal Cancer Action Network (ECAN), a nonprofit that helps in research, support, advocacy, and awareness for esophageal cancer.
If you do not wish to donate to the GoFundMe, I have also provided a direct link to the donation page on their website. In October, I will launch a link through ECAN’s Facebook page to raise money there as well. I will post the link at that time. I will also provide updates on my training to hopefully improve donations for this cause. The Ironman I will be doing is the 70.3 Ironman on December 8th in Indian Wells, CA. My Dad still has a long way to go in beating this disease but I know how tough and strong he is, it stands no chance against him. Any donation or support helps tremendously in trying to raise money to help people just like my dad. If you or anyone you know has questions about donating, please feel free to reach out.
100% of the profits from the GoFundMe will go directly to ECAN to support their vital work.
I love you so much, Dad ❤️
