Every day girls around the world miss a significant amount of school each month because they cannot afford hygiene menstruation period sanitary products. Lack of resources and access to sanitary products should not hinder a girls' ability to get an education. Young woman also miss work time and are exposed
to possible disease (i.e. urinary tract infections) due to the lack of these items. That's why I am raising money for Mama Lidia's Clinic through a non-profit missionary organization to help address the medical and health challenges of young women in the Feres Mai Hahaile village located in Tigray, Ethiopia. My goal is to raise $7,000 to buy reusable menstruation feminine hygiene kits for the village females both school girls and other young women in need. The local school has over 700 female students and each kit costs approximately $10 US dollars.
Every dollar counts! Donations will be used to purchase reusable feminine hygiene kits which will help end school and work absenteeism for females due to a lack of menstruation sanitary products
in the villages.
BACKGROUND
I previously provided fundraising and planning to build an eight (8) building school in the village
in Feres-Mai in 2006 to provide local education indoors. The funds raised also
purchased equipment and supplies ( laptops, furniture, books
etc... ). Today over two-thousand (2000)
children are enrolled. Previously, the children had to walk over four hours daily to reach
outdoor education facilities. During their travels they were exposed to the weather and wild
animals. One young girl was killed by a hyena attack which is what spurred me to get the
school built. The school's history can be searched online under "Lidia's school Feres Mai".
CNN and other news agencies did articles about this project.
Several years later we also provided fundraising and planning for the building of a maternity, pediatric and health medical clinic which is now in operation in the same village. The clinic and school
info can also be searched under "Mama Lidia's clinic ". We are now fundraising
to purchase feminine hygiene kits for the school girls and young women in the villages.
Thank you for considering a donation and please share with others via word of mouth and social networking.
