Feeney Park Foundation

Playing Soccer or Little League at Feeney Park is one of the great joys of living in this area! As much fun as our sports bring, this year was challenging as the fields are in need of repair and upgrades. Many people voiced concern so it was looked into. The quick answer- The fields really need help!

Feeney Park fields are still using the original accessories and infrastructure it was built with and that needs to change. We have an amazing opportunity to repair the fields and start on a multi-year plan to restore the turf to a much safer, and healthier green space.

Recently a groundsman from Greenhorn Creek golf course assessed the park and identified the critical flaws needing immediate attention. He found:

- A 20 year old sprinkler timer that is unreliable and causes many issues, including overwatering.

-Multiple sprinkler heads which need to be replaced.

-The actual PVC pipe infrastructure is deteriorating and has outlived its reparable state, causing a game of “whack a mole” where one leak gets repaired only to find another one pop up.

-A need to purchase a “De-thatching implement” for Feeney's tractor to remove the thatch aka a collection of interwoven grass that impedes moisture penetration.Once de-thatched, more moisture will be getting to the roots, allowing for healthier grass and require less water and more effectively.

-The fields need to be dragged, sanded, soiled, and reseeded.

In addition, last year’s storms flooded the Snack Shack which led to mold. We need to install gutters, remove and replace drywall inside and repaint. We also need to replace two exterior doors to help keep the weather out and prevent vandalism.

The groundsman from Greenhorn Creek has generously offered his time to help us with many of these repairs and we really want to get started as soon as possible to allow work to be completed between sports seasons. This is a huge opportunity and WE REALLY NEED YOU NOW!! Currently, the Park does not have any reserve funds for field repair and is focused on growing its donor base to ensure the regular expenses can be met.

Feeney is a 501-3c non-profit park, which is not supported by any city, county or state government.
