Foothills is growing! And we need your support!
For almost 40 years, Foothills has served the needs of our rural community in Central New York.
Since its inception, The Food Pantry has been located in the basement of the Historical First Presbyterian Church in Holland Patent. Foothills has grown to inhabit three floors of the building and several other storage locations throughout the community.
In addition to the Food Pantry, Foothills offers many other services to the community, including Sarah’s Pet Pantry, The Country Corner Thrift Shop, The Park Coffee House, Food Sense, Christmas Baskets, Kids Summer Bags, and Back-to-School programs.
Due to the significant growth of the Foothills services, FRCM is in dire need of a new building. Specifically, Foothills does not have handicap or single floor access, and since many of the clients and volunteers are seniors or have disabilities, steps become hazardous. Deliveries and storage areas are hindering as well. Large volunteer groups are needed during weekdays to help maneuver pallets of food to the basement. Storage has become problematic as well and has included other community storage areas.
The Foothills Building Committee has located properties in the FRCM service area that include Holland Patent and Remsen School districts and some outlying areas that include Oriskany, Stueben, Whitesboro, Deerfield, and Poland. Each property researched would cost approximately $450,000. The first phase will consist of acquiring the 25% down payment (approximately 6 months), after which time grant applications can be submitted. The second phase will include the setup of a mortgage fund and any expected modifications (approximately 6-12 months).
Foothills has positively impacted so many of our community members, but we need your help to continue to meet our growing needs.
