For over 20 years the cats in this particular field have had people caring for them everyday. There has been a small group of us that have made sure these cats have always had what they needed above and beyond their everyday feeding. Myself, Connie and Jean have been out there since the early 2000's. Hope and Paige has so kindly joined to help, the past couple years, after I relocated our rescue organization to North Florida where we are trying to provide sanctuary for these senior cats now so desperately in need. All of them have been spayed/neutered, provided regular de-worming, provided antibiotics when needed and taken for vet care when injuries occur. Over time, some have come and gone and most of the ones that remain there now are in their senior years. The field in which they live is behind a Publix Plaza that's located on a busy intersection. It also backs up to a wall that surrounds a bad neighborhood that is not at all cat friendly. We were always, and still remain, the only hope these cats have of survival. We have been slowly removing cats and relocating to the sanctuary as space and resources allow, but have only been able to relocate 7 as of today. This does not include the nearly 80-100 cats and kittens rescued, from this field, over the years and adopted into new homes. One of the most recent cats relocated to the sanctuary, during her vetting prior to relocation, was diagnosed with cancer & FIV. We are grateful to have her removed and relocated already as she is about 11 years old now and will be able to receive the treatment and tranquility she needs. Because the majority of these cats are now seniors, I fear that more of them may be suffering from health issues of their own that would require intervention. This week the mesh barriers began going up around all of the trees. They have since returned and now its gone up around the outside perimeter making it hard to feed. They also installed "No Trespassing" signs which means construction is expected to begin soon. We have been trying to make contact with someone on definitive dates, permission to feed and a way to work together in order to keep the cats safe and accommodate trapping, but so far have had no success. We must be able to begin trapping and removing each of them before construction begins in order to keep them safe.

For the Love of Grace Animal Rescue, Inc. will be providing sanctuary for the cats, but will need to build a larger space for them to safely roam within the sanctuary and not stray off the property. When they first arrive they will need to be placed in temporary cages and then transition into their new home. This is no small task and we cannot do it without your help. Please give whatever you can today $5, $10, $20, it all adds up.
