Birds of Hope Syrian Refugee Schools
The crisis in Syria has forced millions to seek refuge outside of the country. Well over one million of them are in Lebanon, a country already suffering from political and economic hardships. Over 500,000 of these refugees are school aged children living within households that survive on a few dollars a day. Among the numerous challenges they face, lack of access to education stands out as a profound injustice. For The Unseen, a 501c3 not-for-profit organization, took up the mission of providing hope and education to these children.
In 2013, For The Unseen partnered with local operatives to start Birds of Hope (in Arabic, Tuyoor Al-Amal) school for Syrian children. From humble beginnings, the school flourished, expanding from 350 students and a few teachers to over 2,300 eager young minds and a committed staff of 100. We recently celebrated a major milestone as our first-ever 12th grade class graduated, with all students poised to pursue higher education by being admitted to college! See picture below of some graduate students with board members, Puneh and Muhannad during their last visit in October 2022. Needless to say, Birds of Hope has been a success and we are here to make sure that they continue to operate, providing a healthy future for these children.

- $135 covers one student for a whole school year
- $25 pays for one child's backpack and school supplies for the school year
- $600 provides a school bus for one month
- $4,400 covers an entire classroom for one year; with this donation, you are supporting one teacher and a classroom full of students with all their supplies and needs
