Fort New Salem Foundation Inc

Across Appalachia hand hewn log structures are slowly disintegrating. These were the homes, barns, smokehouses, and summer kitchens of the first settlers into Appalachian Mountains.

Only one not for profit organization is devoted to preserving these structures. Preserving them so future generations can get a sense of what it was like to come to the harsh wilderness with only dreams and axes. That organization is Fort New Salem Foundation, an ALL volunteer organization, even a very modest budget, our campus boasts many successes. The campus has 18 preserved log cabins, recently we have brought in the Reynolds cabin, a former 2 story home donated to us. Plus the Bennett cabin was generously donated by a family from Dola West Virginia. We transported it to our campus, where it is being lovingly restored to become our woodworking cabin.

But right now we are asking for your help. The Greentree Tavern is in desperate need of repair, This cabin has been part of the Fort for 50 years. So many memories have been made here, like sipping cider in front of the beautiful stone fireplace, imagine standing where our ancestors stood, wondering what this new world had in store for future generations. Unfortunately, the logs at the bottom of the cabin are deteriorating, risking collapse of the entire building. We are seeking $150,000 to repair Greentree Tavern. We are about to lose the Greentree, please help before it is too late. Any amount no matter how small is greatly appreciated!
