Chaula’s 60th Heavenly Birthday- Fighting Sarcoid
This donation is created for the memory of Chaula Sudesh Rawal for what would have been her 60th Birthday. Chaula was a dedicated wife and mother. She was the definition of a selfless soul, a true giver, in every form of the word. One did not need to know her personally to feel her kindness. It radiated from her and touched the lives of everyone she encountered. Her love was boundless and her nurturing nature is deeply missed.
In 2001, she was diagnosed with a rare disease, Sarcoidosis, which presented in her lungs. It started off moderate. Doctors were optimistic it would enter remission. But, unfortunately she was one of the few patients for whom it did not. About fifteen years later the Sarcoidosis turned into Pulmonary Fibrosis. The only option was a double lung transplant, and she was lucky to receive a successful surgery in 2014. After nine additional years of living a full life with her husband, daughters, and grandchildren, she passed away from long term complications of transplant medications on October 6, 2023.
Chaula is one of the many victims of Sarcoidosis. She inspired others in similar positions to exercise bravery and pursuit transplant for a better quality life. Unfortunately, there is no cure for Sarcoidosis. There are only temporary solutions to long term effects of the disease, and options are limited. Chaula was very lucky to receive donor lungs and have the extra life that she did, many are not. In sharing her story, our goal is to raise awareness and money for the Foundation of Sarcoidosis Research. This foundation has a main purpose to find a cure for this disease alongside hopes to find better, safer, and more attainable solutions for the many who are affected by this rare disease. Any bit of donation will help. Thank you for helping us honor our deeply missed, Chaula. ❤️
