Camping in the Sierra Fresno Buddhist Church Camp
Fresno Betsuin is happy to announce that "Camping in the Sierras" is back! After three years of cancellations due to forest fires, the reconstruction of
Jackass Rock camp was delayed until Fall 2022, and the COVID
pandemic, the Directors, Gregg, Janis and Debbie, and the counselors will have Camp 2022 with a little twist! With the help of San Luis Obispo
Buddhist Church, Camping in the Sierras will be on the Central Coast this summer for a condensed camping experience.
For over 50 years, volunteers have carried on the tradition of Mr. & Mrs.
Nakamoto's vision of providing a camp for kids to enjoy the outdoors,
build friendships and learn about Buddhism. This year they want to restart the tradition for the next group of kids. There is usually a steak dinner to
raise funds for camp expenses. Due to the short notice of circumstances beyond our control, there wasn’t enough time for the annual steak dinner
to raise money for camp. Hence, Camping in the Sierras is reaching out to the Sangha to request donations to help support camp expenses. The
funds raised will help pay for food, supplies, and activities for the campers. As has always been, the counselors are all volunteers and do not receive
compensation for their time at camp. (They sometimes have just as much
fun as the Kids). We ask for your help restarting "Camping in the Sierras at the Beach 2022”.
We ask you to add "Camping in the Sierra" when you donate
in the notes, so the funds will go to this event.
Thank you and Gassho.
