Help "Lick" Hunger for Students in Borgne, Haiti
Haitians continue to struggle with double-digit inflation, insecurity, gangs blocking roads and commerce, fear of kidnapping, and gas shortages. We are raising money to feed the students sponsored by the Fondasyon Dauphin, an educational foundation in Borgne, Haiti to make sure they will be nourished next school year while they study. Friends of Borgne believes that education is the key to developing civic leadership, furthering democracy, and providing stability for kids despite the chaos.
Yesterday (7/12), the Friends of Borgne board approved sending funds to prepare for the next school year. We sent for purchases of backpacks, books, school shoes and uniforms for 50 children from the families most in need in Borgne whom we sponsor to go to school. Unfortunately, this transfer will drain our account, so now we need to raise money to pay school tuition in August and provide lunches for these students during the school year so that they can excel.
Thanks to the generosity of Dipper Dan Ice Cream Shop in Honeoye Falls, a portion of ice cream purchases on July 31st will go to pay school fees and provide lunches. Other loca HFl businesses and individuals have also agreed to match what we raise. The Pet Parade leaving from the First Presbyterian Church of Honeoye Falls at 1:45pm will culminate at Dipper Dan, Mayor Rick Milne will speak, and Don Griffin and Friends band will entertain!
However, if you are not able to join us in person, you can still support education in Borgne with this GoFundMe!
