Alison Richardson is fundraising
Swim to Save the Isle au Haut Lighthouse
The iconic Isle au Haut lighthouse is a treasured landmark for the island and has been in operation since 1907. Perched beside the mouth of the thoroughfare it is a beacon for boats and much a loved sight for all who pass by.
The tower is community owned and is in dire need of a major restoration. Fundraising efforts have been in place for several years and we are on our way but a big final push is needed to achieve our goal of beginning the work in summer of 2020.
Starting from the granite base of the lighthouse tower, Molly and Alison will swim in the frigid Maine waters roughly 18 miles clockwise around Isle au Haut, returning back to the lighthouse.
Will you please show your support for us and the lighthouse by making a donation? For each mile we swim, we hope to raise $1,000 for a total of $18,000!
Keep the Light Shining and Keep Swimming!
