The search for a suitable property to establish and maintain a small hermitage has begun! It is also our hope to provide a space for anyone in need of a brief respite from the demands of ministry, most especially priests and consecrated religious. Your continued financial support in raising funds for Little Portion Hermitage will provide us with financial resources for the maintenance and upkeep of the hermitage. .

Thanks to the generous support of friends, we have exceeded our initial fundraising goal of $100,000. Praise God! We, the Friends of Little Portion Hermitage are thankful to God for His providential care poured out upon our endeavor through you, our benefactors.
However, factors unforeseen when our fundraising campaign began have increased the cost of property throughout Maine by nearly 25% as of this writing. Therefore it has become necessary to continue our fundraising campaign in hopes of raising another $50,000
Friends of Little Portion Hermitage have the goal of purchasing property somewhere in the state of Maine to establish and maintain a small hermitage, and to support the life of the hermit who resides in the hermitage. It is also our hope to build a second small hermitage on the same property to be used as a retreat for anyone in need of a brief respite from the demands of ministry, most especially priests and consecrated religious.
Your support in raising funds for Little Portion Hermitage will continue to foster the eremitic vocation in the Catholic Church. The hermit’s life is devoted to the praise of God and salvation of the world, achieved through stricter separation from the world, the silence of solitude, and assiduous prayer and penance. It is a particular call to “find in the desert, in the thick of the spiritual battle, the glory of the Crucified One” (CCC 921).
