Thanks to your donations for Molly's 80th Birthday, we began transforming this hull into a fun schoolyard climb-on. It will be painted with bright, fun scenes from La Mision Beach area and modified to make to make it a safe playground attraction to bring joy to children for decades ahead!

Along side the boat will be a plaque recognizing the many volunteers who've helped elevate local education. The BECA committee helped transform our area from one without a high school, where kids barely got through 6th grade -- to a community with a thriving "prepa" and over 100 University graduates! Doctors, dentists, social workers, artists, chefs and teachers tell us they fondly remember their first Santa toy -- and their chance to have an education. We have the highest percentage of high-school graduates in the state -- and have become a magnet for families seeking educational opportunities for their children.

We're taking donations through Future Wave, our nonprofit 501(c)(3) educational organization so your contribution can be tax-deductible! This is the same nonprofit we used to raise funds for the Santa project.

With your help Santa Arthur was able to give thousands of kids toys each year. For 20 years kids were awed by having Santa come to them!

Your donations will first be used to finish decorating the boat, preparing a safe playground site and transporting it to the local school. Then all the rest of the funds will go to enabling even more children to get scholarships!

In a world plunging toward ecological and nuclear extinction, can a new story save us?

It did once before. In 1983 the US and USSR were racing toward a nuclear war because of the story we were being told - that we had to fight the “evil empire” and could beat them with nuclear bombs. Then President Reagan watched the ABC movie The Day After -- and discovered the real story - nuclear war spells global suicide.

Shaken, like 100 million American viewers -- and 200 million Russian -- Reagan turned from threatening nuclear-war to negotiating treaties to reduce nuclear weapons! The world proceeded to cut nuclear weapons drastically.

But now, once again, the world is embroiled in conflicting stories driving us into wars and a massive new build-up of nuclear weapons.

Another new story is desperately needed -- to wake us and shake us -- so they don’t bake us!

That’s why we turned our attention temporarily to promoting a new film about The Day After, called Television Event, which is just such a crucially-needed warning. Moreover, it is the inspiring, empowering story of how a few individuals with determination and guts changed the world!

Thanks to our generous donors, Melanie and Arthur were able to take on the role of Impact Producers. We sparked a widely publicized grand premiere and reunion of the courageous team that managed to get The Day After on TV back in 1983.

At this time - when divisions and strife threaten humanity with ecological and nuclear suicide, and when protesting and lobbying seem frustratingly incapable of saving our species - might there be a better way?

“Watch The World is My Country”, the riveting story of World citizen #1 Garry Davis,​ who Albert Einstein said grasps the key "to whether humanity will disappear by its own hand or continue to exist.​" And he said: "The problems that exist in the world today cannot be solved by the level of thinking that created them."

Once you watch it, you’ll see how crucial it is to get a new way of thinking out to millions of people -- not by lecturing them, but by drawing them into an exciting story!

In 2021, Rotarians like Yale Jones, Cynda Collins Arsenault, Laura Turner Seydel and Al Jubitz (founder of the Rotary Action Group for Peace) sponsored broadcasting it on PBS stations coast-to-coast.

We are grateful that Al has now issued a new challenge grant of $5,000 toward re-broadcasting it on PBS -- opening with this spot promoting Rotary People of Action:
