2019 Toaster Tech World Championship
Six years ago, a determined group of students wanted to build robots. They came together to found Toaster Tech, FRC Team 5332, a community-based team with members from a variety of educational backgrounds. FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) is an international high school robotics competition where teams of high school students work together to build 125 pound game-playing robots each year.
Since our creation, we have pushed through myriad challenges. We are a third of the size of an average FRC team, as most teams have at least thirty members. Additionally, our team is not funded by a school, so we rely on donations, sponsors, and fundraisers to function. We lost our build space in 2017, and several of our grants have run out. However, this chance for us to express our love of learning, problem solving, teamwork, and gain hands-on STEM experiences has been well worth it. We don’t just build robots; we build a supportive community.
Against all odds, our team of eleven students recently received the incredible opportunity to compete in the Georgia State Championship and the FIRST World Championship in Houston, Texas. For us to compete in these events, we need to raise a total of $15,000. We will use $9,000 to cover the registration fees while the remaining $6,000 will cover travel and lodging costs. This is a valuable opportunity, as it allows our newer team members to experience the magic of robotics on a higher level and gain inspiration from the many teams around the world.
But Toaster Tech can’t do this alone. We need you, our caring sponsors, friends, and family. We would be extremely grateful for any contribution, no matter how small, you make to our campaign.
