Since 2013, my work with the International Antiviral Society–USA has introduced me to the wide disparities in HIV care, particularly on the African continent, and the critical role organizations such as Ride 4 a Woman (ride4awoman.org) provide to bridge this divide. My June 29029 "Everesting" event (climbing 29290 feet of elevation within 36 hours - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uy_meXK_gww ) is a reminder to me that no matter what challenges I may face in accomplishing this goal, they pale in comparison to the daily hurdles faced by women of this region and provides an opportunity for us to support this work. We need your help!
Evelyn Habasa (pictured above) is the heart and soul behind Ride 4 A Woman, a beacon of hope nestled on the border of the lush Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Despite facing adversity, Evelyn's NGO Ride for A Woman has transformed the lives of women struggling with HIV, domestic violence, hunger, and poverty through vocational training.
But here's the catch: without reliable electricity, the women of Buhoma are limited beyond the constraints of their circumstances. Tourism, their lifeline, hasn't fully rebounded from the pandemic, leaving the women's livelihoods hanging in the balance.
