The Heal Ukraine Group, or HUG, is a consortium of Harvard-affiliated physicians, scientists, and healthcare professionals from Boston-based medical institutions who have come together to integrate our activities and address the needs of medical clinicians and facilities impacted by the war in Ukraine, including medics on the frontlines and medical practitioners who have experienced wanton destruction of hospitals, clinics, and medical infrastructure as well as interruption of medical care delivery and training.

The organization was co-founded by Dr. Mark Poznansky, Director of the Vaccine and Immunotherapy Center at MGH and Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School (HMS), Dr. Nelya Melnitchouk, Colorectal Surgeon at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Assistant Professor of Surgery at HMS, and President and Co-Founder of Global Medical Knowledge Alliance, and Dr. Jacki Hart, Physician and Behavioral Health Specialist, and Director of the Bassuk Center. HUG team members convene voluntarily, and we partner with several NGOs including Global Medical Knowledge Alliance, Autism Unity, Health Tech Without Borders, and Lake Country Medical Aid for Ukraine.

Our goals are fluid and purposefully nimble as we respond to the most immediate needs of Ukraine, fulfilling specifically requested medical supplies from colleagues on the ground, translating evidence-based medical guidelines and resources in Ukrainian, and providing Ukrainian medical practitioners training opportunities at Harvard-affiliated hospitals. HUG team members stay in regular communication with the Ukrainian Ministry of Health, the National Cancer Institute of Ukraine, and a host of clinicians on the ground representing a range of specialties.

We are a group of doctors, scientists and healthcare professionals affiliated with Harvard Medical School Hospitals in Boston with strong personal and professional connections to Ukraine. We are working together with doctors and healthcare providers in Ukraine to quickly and strategically provide lifesaving medical and surgical supplies and educational materials. We need your support so we can expand our efforts and help our colleagues in Ukraine.

1. Medical and emergency relief supplies that will be shipped and transported directly to our partner hospitals in Ukraine in collaboration with Global Medical Knowledge Alliance https://gmka.org

2. Ukrainian Artists creating art work at this time of war.
